September/October Children’s Programs at the Oakland Public Library
Batter up! Celebrate the National Pastime with the “Play Ball!” Baseball Craft on Thursday, September 28th at the Oakland Public Library! Oakland children, ages 3 & up, are invited to attend. Participants may come anytime between 4:00 and 6:00 pm. to make a variety of essential baseball tools. Registration is requested, but not required.
“Tail Waggin’ Tutors” is an opportunity for Oakland children, ages 5 & up, to read to a very lovable dog. All dogs in this program are registered with Therapy Dogs International. Meet our newest therapy dog, Gizmo, on Saturday, October 7th from 10:30 to 11:00 am in the Children’s Dept. of the Oakland Public Library. Each child will have about ten minutes to read a story to Gizmo. Registration is now being taken.
The Oakland Garden Club will visit the Library on Thursday, October 12th from 3:45 to 4:30 pm. Oakland children, ages 5 & up, will be using cedar and a scarecrow to make an autumn wall hanging! The craft will be held in the Pat Turnier Craft Room. Registration begins Tuesday, September 19th.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, Teri Merliss, will present her special blend of imaginative stories, original songs, and audience participation on Friday, October 20th from 10:30 to 11:00 am in the Oakland Public Library’s story gallery. Oakland children, ages 2 & up, are invited to attend with a parent or caregiver. Registration begins Tuesday, September 26th.
