October Programs at the Oakland Public Library

The Oakland Garden Club will visit the Library on Thursday, October 13 from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. Oakland children, ages 5 & up, will be making an Autumn Craft, which includes corn cob critters! The program will be held in the Pat Turnier Craft Room. Registration begins Tuesday, September 27.

witchOn Tuesday, October 18 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Mad Science of Northeast NJ will present their Halloween Spectacular in the Children’s Dept. of the Oakland Public Library. The science experiments will include floating eyeballs, melting witches, freaky fog, and creepy crawlers! Right after the show, Oakland children, ages 5 & up, will be making ghost slime! Registration begins Tuesday, October 4.

“Tail Waggin’ Tutors” is an opportunity for Oakland children, ages 5 & up, to read to a very lovable dog. Sadie, and her “Mom”, Donna, will visit the Library on Thursday, October 20 from 5:30 to 6:10 p.m. Daisy, and her “Mom”, Jean, will visit the Library on Tuesday, October 25 from 6:30 to 7:10 p.m. Both Sadie and Daisy are registered therapy dogs with Therapy Dogs International. Each child will have about ten minutes to read a favorite story to a dog. The program will be held in the Library’s story gallery.
Registration begins Tuesday, October 4.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter, Teri Merliss, will present her special blend of imaginative stories, original songs, and audience participation on Friday, October 21 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Oakland Public Library’s story gallery. Oakland children, ages 2 & up, are invited to attend with a parent or caregiver. Registration begins Tuesday, October 4.
