policebuildingMAY 27: Officer Ryan O’Keefe investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of identity theft. The resident stated that he discovered his identity was compromised when he learned that someone already attempted to file a tax return in his name without his knowledge or consent. Report filed.

MAY 29: Officer Michael Griffin investigated a burglary to a vehicle parked on Hiawatha Blvd. The complainant reported that personal electronic items had been removed from inside his unlocked vehicle. Report taken and matter forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

MAY 29: Officer Daniel Kern investigated a complaint of simple assault involving two female employees at a West Oakland Ave hair salon. The victim was explained her legal options for signing a complaint against her attacker if she so desired in the Oakland Municipal Court.

MAY 29: During the course of a welfare check of a motorist by Officer Thomas Pianettini at the Oakland Shopping Center, it was determined that a 42-year-old male resident of Waldwick was heavily impaired from consuming alcoholic beverages and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. The offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released into the custody of a family member. The offender was also charged with the criminal offense of Endangering the Welfare of a Child for operating under the influence with his juvenile son in the vehicle.

MAY 30: While checking on a disabled vehicle, Offficer Bryan Rowin located an active criminal warrant issued out of the city of Paterson for an involved passenger. The 65-year-old male offender was detained and then later released on his own recognizances after the Paterson Police Department declined to respond and take custody.

MAY 30: Officer Thomas Pianettini was dispatched to the area of Skyline Dr to investigate a report of an erratic driver. While responding, Officer Pianettini located the vehicle on West Oakland Ave not long after it crashed head on into a utility pole. The 24-year-old male resident of Pompton Lakes was found to be heavily impaired from consuming alcoholic beverages and was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence. The offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released into the custody of a family member.
