On the Job – May 16, 2016


policepatchMAY 1: The Oakland Police Department was notified of a positive DNA match of blood found at a business on Fir Court that was burglarized in September of 2015. The offender was a 23-year-old male resident of Paterson, NJ and an arrest warrant was drawn up by Detective Edward McDermott. With the assistance of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, the offender was arrested at his place of residence and brought to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail to await court proceedings.

MAY 5: While on patrol Officer Bart Pagerie initiated a traffic stop involving an overweight vehicle on Skyline Drive which resulted in the arrest of the 33-year-old male driver and his passenger, a 66-year-old-male, both from Wayne, NJ, for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia . Both offenders were taken into custody, processed and later released on their own recognizances.

MAY 13: A fight in the parking lot of Portobello’s was reported involving two patrons. Sgt Michael O’Neill and Officers Michael Griffin, Luis Gaviria, and Bryan Rowin responded to assist. As a result of the investigation a 41-year-old male resident of Hawthorne, NJ was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the hospital for his injuries sustained during the fight.

MAY 15: While on patrol, Officer Michael Griffin checked on a disabled vehicle along I-287 and came to discover that the registered owner, who was on scene, was a wanted person out of Sussex County for child support in excess of $11,000. The 24-year-old male offender was taken into custody and later released to the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department for final disposition. Officers Bryan Rowin and Luis Gaviria assisted.
