On the Job – November 27


grafittiOn November 20, 2011 at approximately 1:39 a.m. officers were dispatched to Waters Edge on the report that a vehicle had been parked and the occupants walked down to a Gazebo by the lake.  The officers located the suspects involved who had met them on a path leading from the Patriots Way Bridge .  Further investigation revealed that the two individuals, 19 and 20 year old Oakland residents had recently spray-painted graffiti on the bridge. Both suspects were found to be in possession of a can of spray-paint and charged with criminal mischief.  Ptl. Keenan and Ptl. Docwra investigated.

On November 20, 2011 officers were dispatched to Ramapo Valley Road, near the center of town, on the report of a suspect who had stumbled to his car and driven off.  As a result of this dispatch, Sgt. Robert O’Keefe conducted a motor-vehicle stop on a vehicle on Pawnee Ave and was assisted by Ptl. Noury.  As a result of their inquiry, the driver of the vehicle, a 54 year old Oakland resident, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was transported to HQ and later released after processing.

On November 23, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Truman Blvd. involving a parked car, Ptl. Dan Kern arrested a 56 year old Oakland resident for driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was transported to HQ and consented to provide samples of his breath for chemical analysis.  He was later released and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.  Charges included D.W.I. and reckless driving.

On November 23, 2011 as a result of an inquiry into a suspicious vehicle that was observed behind the Lenape Valley Grill on Ramapo Valley Road , Ptl. Keenan arrested a 34 year old Elmwood Park resident and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol.  It was determined that the driver of the vehicle had recently departed from Portobello’s Restaurant and was in the process of leaving. He was transported to HQ where he was administered the Alcotest and charged with D.W.I. A December 2011 court date has been scheduled in the Oakland Municipal Court.
