A mighty roar could be heard across the ballfields of Oakland as a parade of players marched during the Recreation Commission’s opening day ceremonies. The enthusiasm of the girl’s softball players provided an added tribute to one of their own, Lorraine Murray, who was honored during the re-dedication of Field 6. A fifty year resident of Oakland, Lorraine cheered on the crowd with her love for the sport, and a reminder of the joy earned in keeping to the spirit of the game.
