Fall Story Times at the Oakland Public Library

Preschool Story Time for children, ages three and four, will be held on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:00 am and 1:00 to 1:30 pm in the Oakland Public Library’s story gallery starting Monday, September 24th, and ending November 26th. This fall season will feature special sessions focusing on music and movement, as well as the more traditional story and craft time. Registration is requested, but not required. Registration begins Tuesday, September 11th.

Tots Library Club is an unstructured, early literacy experience for 0 to 24-month-olds and their caregiver. TLC will be held on Thursdays in the Oakland Public Library’s story gallery starting Thursday, September 27th, and ending November 29th. Come for playtime from 10:00 to 10:45 am, and stay for a short 15-minute session of nursery rhymes, fingerplays, and songs! Registration is requested, but not required. Registration begins Tuesday, September 11th.

Terrific Two’s & Three’s! is a Story Time for two to three-year-olds and their caregiver. The sessions will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 am on the following Fridays: September 28th, October 12th, October 26th, November 9th, and November 30th. This fall season will feature special sessions focusing on music and movement, as well as the traditional story and craft time. Registration is requested, but not required. Registration begins Tuesday, September 11th.

FOR ADULTS

Qigong for Overall Health and Wellbeing with Tara Farley on Mondays at 10:00 AM September 17 $ 24 and October 1, 15, 22,& 29. Please bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes. This series will focus on learning different exercises and breathing techniques that support the wellbeing of the heart, increase the breathing capacity of the lungs, aid in the detoxification of the liver, as well as bringing our thoughts into a state of neutrality to release worry and anxiety. Qigong can be practiced standing or sitting. Registration is not necessary.

Styling Homes to Sell- Redesigning Homes to Live with Lori Carbone on Monday, September 24 at 7:00 PM
Lori Carbone, President of Spaces That Speak Home Staging will present a seminar on Styling Places to Sell, Redesigning Interiors to Live. Lori will explain how simple home updating and staging can not only make everyday life more enjoyable but also help increase the value of your home. This will be an interactive presentation on the secrets and techniques home staging professionals use. Computer Workshop Wednesdays – September 12 & 19–Overdrive/Libby is for eBooks and eAudiobooks. Learn how to access Overdrive/Libby free with your library card. G-Mail 101 workshop on September 26 . The Oakland Public Library Board of Trustees would like to announce that, after 31 years of dedicated service to the Library, Edward Von Lindern is retiring. Mr. Von Lindern started as an employee of the library in 1987, and is currently the longest serving member of the staff. He has witnessed an incredible amount of change at the Oakland Public Library, watching as it grew from the original historic Ponds Memorial Building, where the Children’s Department was in the basement, into the facility we have today. Mr. Von Lindern will be remembered by the residents he served and the children whose lives he touched during his long career, There will be a send off for Mr. Von Lindern on Friday, September 28 at 3:00 PM at the library and the public is invited to attend and say thank you to Mr. Ned.
