drinkdriveOn February 3, 2011 Ptl. Broek conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hiawatha Blvd. after he observed the vehicle cross over the double yellow lines on several occasions and travel in excess of the posted speed limit.  Upon his approach to the vehicle, Ptl. Broek immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver as he spoke. Along with the assistance of Ptl. Tim Keenan, Ptl. Broek administered standardized field sobriety tests to the driver, a 21 year old Elmwood Park , NJ resident.  At the completion of the tests, Ptl. Broek placed the driver under arrest for D.W.I. and transported him to HQ where he submitted samples of his breath for chemical testing.  Prior to the driver’s release, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and failure to keep right. A February 2011 court date has been set.

On February 5, 2011 Ptl. Tim Keenan observed a green BMW traveling northbound on Ramapo Valley Road drift over the double yellow lines into the southbound lane of travel.  The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle and approached the driver, a 43 year old Mahwah , NJ resident.  Upon the officer’s approach to the vehicle, he immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver.  Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene and the driver was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  After providing samples of his breath for chemical testing, the driver was charged with DWI and failure to keep right. He was released into the custody of a friend and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.


On February 5, 2011 as a result of an investigation
conducted at a residence on Blackfoot Trail, Ptl. Keenan arrested a 24 year old Oakland resident for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, specifically heroin.  The man was released on his own recognizance and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.  Sgt. Sanzari and Ptl. McDermott assisted.
