On March 22, 2011, working in conjunction with officials from Indian Hills High School , Det./ Sgt. Robert DeBoer , confiscated a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia from a 14 year old student who appeared to be under the influence. A small Ziploc baggie containing suspected marijuana and a pipe, commonly used to inhale marijuana, were removed from the student. He was later released into the custody of his parent. Complaints for juvenile delinquency are pending by the detective bureau.
On March 26, 2011 Ptl. Dan Kern and Ptl. Joe Noury were dispatched to a wooded area adjacent to the Heights Elementary School to investigate a report of several juveniles acting in a suspicious manner. As the officers approached the juveniles, they immediately detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana. A search revealed the existence of a glass pipe and small amounts of suspected marijuana. All of the juveniles, aged 14 to 15 years old, were transported to headquarters and released into the custody of their respective parents/guardians. Juvenile complaints are pending.
