On the Job November 14 1

On November 5, 2011 several officers were dispatched to Portobello Feasts Restaurant on a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, the officers located the two individuals involved and asked them both to leave the establishment at the request of the manager. One of the individuals, a 50 year old Highland Lakes, NJ resident, became extremely irate and began cursing at the officers and challenging them to a fight. He was subsequently arrested by Ptl. Keenan and Ptl. Kern and charged with disorderly conduct.  After processing was completed at HQ, the man was released ROR and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court. Sgt. Robert O’Keefe assisted in the investigation.

cashOn November 8, 2011 officers were dispatched to a residence on Grove Street on a reported burglary. They were further informed that the resident was returning home from a jog when she observed a teen in all black clothing running out the door of her house. The suspect had fled down Nielson Ave towards the woods. With the assistance of the Franklin Lakes Police Department, a perimeter was maintained while the area was searched by a Bergen County Police K-9 Unit. A suspect soon developed in the case and was later located by members of the detective bureau.  He was interviewed at HQ by Det. Bart Pagerie along with the assistance of Det./Sgt. DeBoer and Det. Piercy.  The interview led to a subsequent confession by the suspect who indicated that he entered the home in search of cash.  He was charged with burglary. Bail was set at $5000.00/ROR and the suspect was later released.  Assisting in the investigation were Ptl. Pianettini, Ptl. Gary Fiore and Ptl. Broek.

It truly is a sad day & rude awakening when your own neighbor is suspected of breaking into and invading your home. How in the world are any of us on Grove Street supposed to feel safe from this point on?

I would like to sincerely thank ALL of the officers & law enforement officers from Oakland, the surrounding towns & Bergen County for their prompt, professional and thorough investigation.
