ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Erosion Project
This is a continuation of discussions that started in 2007, and the original plan was deemed too expensive. Boswell did some pro bono work to study the area and has proffered a new plan that is now the subject of discussion. The area under discussion can be seen in this recent video, but the damage to the river appears to extend further downstream.

Oakland Housing Corp
The establishment of Oakland Housing Corp., may or may not, relate to the proposed senior housing development discussed earlier in 2012. This is the property on 202, just a few doors down from the First Aid building. This is basically a public/private entity – a housing authority – and focuses on affordable housing issues. The senior housing project may not be the only issue for an Oakland Housing Corp, as the state is now looking to take monies municipalities have collected over the years to be put towards affordable housing. Establishing such an entity has pros and cons, a discussion of its short & long term implications will probably take place. (Boonton, NJ has one, but it’s purpose is not really a comparable since they have an extensive number of units)
