OUR ‘BIG’ WINNER RECEIVING HIS ‘BIG’ CHECK (President of the Oakland/Franklin Lakes Rotary Club Peter J. Kikot with the BIG 50/50 raffle winner and Oakland resident Bruce Tyra)

The Oakland/Franklin Lakes Rotary Club picked the winning Big 50/50 ticket belonging to Oakland resident Bruce Tyra.  His ticket was chosen at a regular club meeting held at Portobello’s on Tuesday June 26, 2012.  The 30 members of the Club spent the previous four months selling the raffle tickets for $100.00 a piece with a maximum of 300 able to be sold.  Tickets were sold to supporters all over Bergen and Passaic county and to friends of Rotary as far away as Florida and Massachusetts.

Kikot actually sold the winning ticket to Tyra who said “Rotary is a good cause and it was worth supporting it with buying a ticket.  Of course, I am very happy to have won as well!”  The OFL Rotary Club provides scholarships to local students, supports the DARE programs of Oakland and Franklin Lakes and supports a variety of other local, national and international programs.  Kikot adds “The $12,950.00 raised through the hard work of its members will go a long way in helping those who need our help the most.  I am proud of all of our clubs accomplishments but this, our largest fundraiser of the year, will go a long way in fulfilling the many requests we receive each month for support.  We thank everyone who purchased a ticket and invite everyone back again next year to participate is this exciting fundraiser.”
