Mayor’s Message Nov 7th

BOROUGH OF OAKLAND
PUBLIC NOTICE

HURRICANE SANDY STORM UPDATE
FOR
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2012

This is a message from Mayor Linda Schwager:

Restoration of Power

Orange and Rockland Electric is currently working with crews from Georgia Power to finishing restoring power to all homes and businesses in Oakland. The current projection is that everyone should have electricity by the end of the day tomorrow, Thursday, November 8th. If you do not have power by that time you should call Orange and Rockland to confirm that you are on their repair list.

Water Main Break

There was a water main break earlier today in the Lakeside Boulevard / Ramapo Hills area that affected water pressure and caused some homes to be without water. The leak should be fixed and service restored by 7pm tonight. If you live in that area, there is no need to boil your water, it is safe to drink.

Nor’Easter Update

While our Public Works Department has been busy responding to and cleaning up from last week’s storm, we are prepared to deal with this latest Nor’Easter as well. Roads will be salted and plowed as necessary. Still, if you do not need to travel, please stay home during the storm.

Council Meeting Cancelled

The Borough Council meeting scheduled for this evening has been cancelled due to the inclement weather. The next Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20th.

Borough, School and other Facilities

The Senior Center is still closed due to lack of power, so please call ahead before visiting the center.

The Planning Board Meeting scheduled for this Thursday has been cancelled.

Yard Waste Pickup

Due to the volume of tree debris, our contractor was not able to complete all of the yard waste pickup routes on Monday and Tuesday. Additional trucks have been scheduled for Thursday and Friday so that all areas will be picked up by the end of the week.
