On the Job – December 19, 2012


dwiskullOn December 14, 2012 at approximately 7:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with possible injuries on Ramapo Valley Road. Upon their arrival, it was discovered that the vehicle had struck and damaged two utility poles and sustained non-life threatening moderate injuries. The driver, a 68 year old Oakland resident, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained for analysis at the N.J. State Police Lab. Charges included D.W.I. having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after it was determined that he had also been involved in a crash at the intersection of Ramapo Valley Road and Franklin Ave which he left the scene of. He was later released into the custody of a responsible family member and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court. Ptl. Michael O’Neill investigated.

On December 14, 2012 at approximately 8:10 p.m., while conducting traffic for a motor vehicle accident on Ramapo Valley Road, Ptl. Gusterson was alerted to an erratic driver by Mahwah P.D. that was reportedly traveling on Ramapo Valley Road southbound. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Navajo Way. The driver, a 51 year old female Oakland resident, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to HQ where she submitted samples of her breath for chemical analysis. She was issued a summons for DWI and released into the custody of a family member.
