On December 27, 2012 a Franklin Lakes resident reported to Ptl. Rowin that her purse had been stolen while she was shopping at Shop-Rite. The woman stated that the purse was removed from her shopping cart while she was looking at items near the store’s entrance. Her credit cards, an ATM card and an undisclosed amount of cash were reported taken. The case remains under investigation by the detective bureau.
On January 4, 2013 Ptl. Harvey investigated a suspicious solicitor on Seton Hall Drive who was reportedly canvassing for a home improvement company. The officer’s inquiry resulted in him locating an outstanding warrant in the amount of $500.00 on the offender out of Livingston, NJ. Ptl. Harvey subsequently placed the suspect under arrest. A search incident to arrest resulted in the officer locating a metal pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana on the subject’s person. He was charged with canvassing without a permit and the possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
On January 9, 2013 as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Court House Place for erratic driving, Ptl. Rowin arrested a 27 year old Carlstadt, NJ resident for the possession of suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Additional charges included the possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving without motor vehicle insurance, careless driving and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was later released on his own recognizance and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
On January 13, 2013 as a result of a citizen’s complaint of erratic driving, Ptl. Noury arrested a 54 year old Oakland resident for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol on Dogwood Drive. The subject refused to submit samples of his breath for chemical testing and was subsequently charged with numerous offenses including DWI and refusal. He was later released into the custody of a family member and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
