The Oakland Girl Scout Service Unit recently held an encampment – Camping Rocks! Oakland Girl Scouts (CR!OGS). There were almost 100 participants including the leaders.
Girl Scouts include 6 levels: Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. Brownies and up were invited to camp, while Daisies were invited with parents for the campfire.
The event was organized so that each level prepared, cooked and hosted a meal and an activity. The Cadettes and some Juniors prepared dinner and hosted a team building activity, the Brownies served breakfast and hosted “carnival-inspired games”, and the Juniors served lunch and conducted a swap-making craft session. The Ambassadors hosted the campfire, which consisted of each troop performing a song or skit and of course s’mores!!!
Patrols were arranged so that every girl and leader participated as a “team”.
The girls enjoyed being outdoors and being together – the event was a great success!
