On The Job – July 14, 2010


switchbladeOn July 10, 2010 Officers were dispatched to a business on Ramapo Valley Road on the report of an individual threatening someone with a knife. Upon arrival, Lt. Chris Eldridge located the suspect in a vehicle in the parking lot and placed him under arrest along with the assistance of Officer Pianettini and Officer Docwra.  The investigation revealed that a dispute ensued between an employee and an individual in the parking lot over a parking space.  The dispute resulted in the man brandishing a knife and threatening the business employee.  The five inch pocket knife was later located within the vehicle the man was operating and secured as evidence.  Charges included terroristic threats, assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Bail was set at $20,000.00, no 10%.  The 20 year old Paterson , NJ resident was later released after bail was posted in cash.  The matter will be referred to The Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack .

On July 12, 2010 a Manito Ave. resident arrived home and discovered a basketball hoop in her driveway had been knocked over into a decorative stone wall on the opposite side of her driveway.  The hoop forced multiple rocks and decorative stones out of alignment causing damage in excess of $500.00.  Ptl. Broek took the initial report and referred the matter to the detective bureau for further investigation.

On July 13, 2010 an employee of a local gas station reported someone leaving the station without paying for fuel dispensed.  The investigation conducted by Ptl. Broek revealed that after the fuel was dispensed into the vehicle, the suspect attempted to pay for it with a payment type that is not accepted by the gas station.  During the course of the argument that ensued over the matter, the patron left without satisfying the bill.  Through a follow-up investigation, Ptl. Broek located the suspects and arrangements were made to satisfy the outstanding bill of $28.74.  Later that evening, the bill was paid and the matter was resolved.
