Former FLFD Chief needs new Kidney

chief_john_keene1John Keene is a 30 plus year member of the Franklin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. First elected a Lieutenant in 1983, John rose to the rank of Chief in 1998. John is the father of three loving children and a grandfather. He has been fighting kidney disease, specifically focal segmental glomerular sclerosis, for over 10 years. In May of 2007 he went into kidney failure and has been on dialysis since. John is in desperate need of a kidney and we have reached out to all our friends and family in hopes that someone would be willing to become a live donor and help to provide John with this life saving gift. John is currently going to dialysis three times a week which is seriously affecting his quality of life. Despite the debilitating effects of dialysis, his doctors feel that he is an excellent candidate for a kidney transplant; but time is of the essence.

John’s medical insurance will pay for all medical expenses incurred by the donor. The Blood Donor’s type must be O+ and the donor would need to be in good health. The donor would be in the hospital for 1-2 days and would be back to work within 7-12 days. Your help would be greatly appreciated by John, his family and friends. If you can help, please contact Diane at Saint Barnabas (973-322-2719) and she will send an information packet with details regarding the procedure and a questionnaire to be filled out by the donor for screening purposes. We thank you in advance for your kind consideration.

Sincerely,

The Keene Family
