On November 2, 2010 Ptl. Frank Fiore was dispatched to Shop-Rite of Oakland on a reported shoplifter. He was met by Shop-Rite security personnel who had detained a 24 year old Ringwood , NJ resident prior to his arrival. The woman was reported to have concealed various items into several bags she was carrying as well as underneath three bags of groceries she had purchased earlier. Without paying for the items, the woman attempted to exit the store and was apprehended by security. Ptl. Fiore questioned the suspect and subsequently placed her under arrest for shoplifting. She was transported to headquarters and processed. A November 2010 court date has been set in the Oakland Municipal Court.
On November 12, 2010 Ptl. Docwra conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road in front of the Copper Tree Mall after observing the vehicle make an illegal u-turn on Long Hill Road . As the officer approached the vehicle, he immediately detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle’s passenger compartment. Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted on scene with the assistance of Ptl. Tim Keenan and the man was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The 46 year old Oakland resident was transported to headquarters where he refused to submit samples of his breath for chemical testing. He was charged with D.W.I., driving with a suspended driver’s license, D.W.I. in a school zone and refusing to submit to the Alcotest machine. At the completion of processing, he was released into the custody of a family member and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
On November 13, 2010 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Ptl. Docwra investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot next to the boat ramp on West Oakland Ave. As the officer approached the driver, he immediately detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle’s passenger compartment. Ptl. Docwra questioned the subject and called for the assistance of Oakland ’s drug recognition expert, Ptl. Tim Keenan. Ptl. Keenan conducted a further investigation and determined that the 25 year old Haledon , NJ resident had driven to the location under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Consent was given by the driver to search the 2001Ford truck he had been operating and a small bag of suspected marijuana and rolling papers were found near the center console. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he was subsequently charged with D.W.I., possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released into the custody of a responsible adult and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
