Ms. Oliver has studied at several private art schools in Florida and New Jersey including the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center, Belleair; Anna Maria Island Art League; Longboat Key Art Center for the Arts, Manatee; The Yard School, Montclair; Summit School of Art; and the Ridgewood Art Institute.

She was awarded the Pathfinders Award in the 45th Annual Florida Water Color Society Exhibition for her painting “5th Avenue Carousel” which is in the exhibit.

Roberta’s years in Florida inspired her to paint seascapes with the beautiful transparency that can only come from watercolor painting. Roberta enjoys bringing into focus a close up of nature, the details of a swan, an acorn or a leaf reflecting in a pond. She would not be happy with a city scene if it didn’t have a tree or a dog sniffing about. Roberta also loves to paint portraits that magnify the feelings within her subjects eyes. Those who observe Roberta’s art say it calms them….they want to “go there” to the places she paints.

Roberta Oliver’s paintings and prints are available for sale through the New Friends of the Oakland Public Library. The NFOPL is a 501(c)3 organization.
