“Spotlight on Richard Bernstein, Metropolitan Opera Soloist and Bergen County Neighbor”
The New Friends of the Oakland Public Library is proud to present internationally acclaimed Metropolitan Opera Soloist, Richard Bernstein with the Ramapo Valley Chamber Ensemble in concert on Sunday, October 25 at 4:00 PM. The Concert will be held at The Presbyterian Church of New Jersey at 222 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland. This concert is free and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
A Met Opera company member since his debut in 1995, acclaimed bass, Richard Bernstein has appeared with the MET in 328 performances and over 100 international live broadcasts to date. He has also sung leading roles with companies around the country and around the world. For the 2015-2016 season, he will return to the MET Opera for his 21st consecutive season, singing all performances of Angelotti in Tosca, Pietro in Simon Boccanegra and the Captain in Manon Lescaut which will be broadcast live on March 5, 2016.
Joining Bernstein on stage will be the Ramapo Valley Chamber Ensemble: MET Opera Orchestra Violinists Jeehae Lee and Laura Hamilton (Artistic Director of NFOPL Sunday Concert Series); Elizabeth Martyn, New Orleans Philharmonic, Ridgewood Symphony , piano; cellist Lanny Paykin, NY Philharmonic, NYC Opera and violist Francesca Martin Silos, of the Colorado Quintet and LA Chamber Orchestra.
Ms. Hamilton has created a for this concert a program that will begin with Mozart’s Madamina, il catalago e quest from Don Giovanni, will include works of Beethoven, Verdi, Puccini and Schumann and concludes with Leigh’s The Impossible Dream (The Quest) from Man of La Mancha.
The New Friends of the Oakland Library is a 501 (c) 3 organization. This concert is made possible by the generous support of the NFOPL . This concert is free, donations are always accepted. The 2015 -2016 New Friends of the Oakland Public Library Sunday Afternoon Concert Series will take place on October 25, November 15, February 21, March 20 and April 24. .
