Americans Start their Day on the Wrong Side: Ryan Robinson
Whatever channel you watch, what station you listen to listen to, whatever newspaper you get, our world is surrounded by bad news and depressing stories. It is very hard to wake up on the right side of the bed and start your day on a happy-go-lucky mood. According to a study, Americans are one of the unhappiest countries in the world…I wonder why…
The media tends to make everything negative no matter what the story. Let’s take a recent event, Michael Jackson’s death. The media seems to only focus on the “scandal” the “debt”, etc. However, I don’t see any station saying that although he was a bit weird, he had good music and changed society. If you see that on the news, give me a holler because I need to start watching that channel!
So, I did some researching and I found some websites and magazines that one should sign up for to get the “good news” and “funny things of the day” to boost your day through all of the negativity. Some of them one would need to pay to subscribe, but it’s good for one to do.
The first one is http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/ . The name represents the website itself. It has categories from Civics to Health, Business to Family Life. This one testimonial struck me and I had to add it.
“After reading another horrible story on CNN, I typed in “good news”. To my delight, there IS actually some. Thank you for your fabulous website that puts a little hope back into my soul.”

Another one is called Good News Broadcast (http://www.goodnewsbroadcast.com) According to the website, their mission is to “find, receive, create and broadcast to the world, life-affirming, thought-provoking, educational news, entertainment and events; content that is non-violent, non-sectarian, non-political.”
Two others http://www.happynews.com/ and http://www.goodnewsdaily.com are very similar providing a variety of topics and is interactive with the reader.
For other links, see the end of the article.
If you don’t want to subscribe to anything or just want a simple little thing to make you smirk, go to http://unusualholidays.tk/ . They have the website set up by months of the year, so find the month your looking for, find the date, and find the weird holiday of the day! I visit this site every single day, since I found it yesterday!
Remember, “Good News, Good Day!”
