A local mom recently started a facebook group page to combat the more than 4 hours of homework her daughter has each night, sometimes more. Do you feel you HS student is receiving too much homework? She has spoken with the district Superintendent, as well as, the Principal and Vice Principal at Ramapo High School and was encouraged to start this discussion so that they may make better changes. The district needs parents to get involved by simply calling, writing or visiting with them.

“Their findings were troubling: Research showed that excessive homework is associated with high stress levels, physical health problems and lack of balance in children’s lives; 56% of the students in the study cited homework as a primary stressor in their lives.
“We found a clear connection between the students’ stress and physical impacts — migraines, ulcers and other stomach problems, sleep deprivation and exhaustion, and weight loss,” Pope observed.”
