Little Heart Records welcomes The Lips to the growing label family. The baby of guitarist/vocalist Anthony M. Laido is an Oakland, New Jersey-based band of surf and garage rock that further pushes the envelope of the label’s sound and scope.
The self-titled album is set for May release. The Lips will tour throughout the summer.
“I’m thrilled about releasing my debut label release with Little Heart,” says Laido, “I couldn’t be happier to team up with a label that let me have creative freedom. After harassing [label head] Bryan Puckett for months, we finally talked and made a deal. I think people will enjoy the raw/garage sound that I tried to create… hopefully.”
“Ha,” responds Puckett. “I knew I wanted to do this record instantly. I just liked stringing Laido along. Haha. Seriously though, this is one of those records, that for me personally, made me think about so many records I listened to when I was younger. While it’s a love letter to the last ten years of garage and surf, it breaks enough new ground to be original and not just a derivative. I’m really stoked we’ve gone into this relationship. I can’t wait for people to hear what Anthony has up his sleeve.”
The album is set for release this May. An official date forthcoming.
