VFW Post 5702 To Help Returning Veterans

Recently, many NJ National Guardsmen stationed at the Teaneck, NJ Armory returned home from a tour of duty in Iraq. While they were overseas, the American economy went into decline resulting in the closing of businesses. When they returned home, some of these veterans discovered that they no longer had civilian jobs.

The Family Assistance Center at the Armory has a Food Pantry to help these veterans and their families. Since the need is so great, the Pantry empties quickly.

A VFW District 2 (Bergen County) effort has been organized to generate food and supplies for the Food Pantry. As part of that effort, VFW Post 5702 will be collecting supplies to support these veterans and their families. We are asking for donations from individuals, civic, fraternal, and religious groups in our service area. The Family Assistance Coordinator at the Armory has indicated that the supplies listed below are what the families need the most:

Canned goods Boxed cereal Paper products
Detergent Dish soap Baby food
Diapers Baby wipes Baby powder
Hand soap Micro wave food packets
Juice boxes Bottled water Pasta

All donated supplies no matter what the amount can be dropped at VFW Post 5702 any Monday evening between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM between now and November 16, 2009.

Individuals or organizations needing additional information can contact Doug Neralich via e-mail at Post5702adj@gmail.com.
