On April 13, 2014 at approximately 8:54 a.m. the Oakland Police Department received a call of a reported burglary to Alpha Jewelers located at 383 Ramapo Valley Road. Sgt. Sanzari, PO Harvey and PO Broek responded. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the burglary is believed to have occurred sometime during the overnight hours between April 12 and April 13, 2014. Entry was gained to the business through a wall that adjoins the business with Re/Max Real Estate on the west side of the establishment. Also discovered at the scene was evidence of unauthorized entry into Star Nails which is the business located next door to Alpha Jewelers; although nothing has been reported missing from Star Nails. Proceeds of the crime is reported as being an undisclosed amount of various pieces of assorted jewelry. Detective Bart Pagerie, the lead investigator in the case, received assistance in the investigation from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department B.C.I. Unit who responded to assist in processing the scene. The matter remains under active investigation and no further information is available for release at this time.
Is there not a fire code that requires a fire wall between connecting buildings of this type? Just Sheetrock?
