Barnstable Academy Student wins Writing Awards


barnsatablewriterBarnstable Academy senior, Zeke Maben who is headed off to Vassar College in the fall recently won three separate Regional writing awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.    Maben won a Gold Key for his personal essay titled “On Impov”.   As a result of his passion for Impro, Barnstable Academy has offered a new afternoon elective called ‘Improv” lead by Maben and taught by Barnstable’s Director of Performing Arts, Darlene Boniface.

In addition to his Gold Key, Maben won a Silver Key for his Writing Portfolio and received Honorable Mention for all of his poetry submissions.   His poetry entries included, “The Great God Pan”, “Oath of the Brooding Poet,” “Flakes of the Soul”, “The Greatest Injustice”, and “Chains”.
