Daisy Troop 1057 Bakes Bread

Inspired by the Spread The Bread project, Girl Scout Daisy Troop 1057 spent one evening baking a variety of breads from scratch! St. Alban’s pre-school generously donated their kitchen space for this event. The girls worked cooperatively in small groups to measure, pour and mix all of the ingredients. Each group made enough dough to make one loaf of bread to donate to a special group in town and mini-loaves to share with their own families.

The troop discussed the concept of “community” and the many special people in our community who work or volunteer for us. Each group then decided who they wanted to donate their bread to as a way of showing their appreciation. The girls chose the police department, the fire department, their 1st grade teachers, a father of one girl who is a soldier serving in Iraq, and the faculty at St. Alban’s.
