Gotta Love a Jersey Girl

jacquisandell_oaklandBeing interviewed after earning a spot on NBC’s The Voice, the first thing Jacqui Sandell tells the world is, “I’m from Oakland, New Jersey.”

The interview, available below, occurred after the Jersey girl from Oakland took her place as a team member of the NBC TV show “The Voice”.

As the “frontman” for the band My Arcadia, Sandell has a track record of mixing it up with music to create that new experience every music lover is seeking. And with a voice that lends itself to pop melodies, it was no surprise that she turned the judges’ chairs around in the blind audition that won her a coveted spot on The Voice.

Sandell won it with a rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s song “Dreams”, and chose a spot on Team Blake. She also earned Tweets from rock legends Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks congratulating her on an outstanding performance of their song.

The Voice show features four stages of competition. The first having been the blind auditions when teams are established, and the next to follow are the battle rounds, the knockouts and finally, the live performance shows.

The battle rounds will feature two team members going against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. It’s a novel concept, but one that plays into bringing out the best in a performance; like jazz and rock’n roll musicians jamming – when people on stage challenge each other, you sometimes create magic.

The dueling duets are scheduled for 8pm on April 15th, and you can click here for a sneak preview.
