Great Oak Park wins

greatoakparklogo2013As announced at Oakland’s Mayor and Council meeting last night, the winning name for the new park in Oakland is Great Oak Park. Over 900 votes out of the 2200+ cast were for Great Oak Park.

The other two names will be respectfully preserved and used within the park. The committee is already preparing to identify historic artifacts from the Pleasureland days and identify them, as well as name important roads after the Pleasureland owners. Something will be named after Carmine Parente in the park as well, once DEP approvals come back and we know the choices.

According to Chair of the Park Committee, Mike Guadagnino in 2014 a major fundraising  campaign will begin for the new park.
