Hall of Fame Inductee 1

saologo“I find fault with my children because I like them and I want them to go places – uprightness and strength and courage and civil respect and anything that affects the probabilities of failure on the part of those that are closest to me, that concerns me – I find fault.”Branch Rickey

While many readers might be  familiar with Oakland resident Frank Monaco finding fault with local governance during the open session of the Oakland Town Council meetings,  many more are unfamiliar with Mr. Monaco’s service to the recreation programs in Oakland.

The Sports Association of Oakland is seeking to remedy this, and has announced that Frank Monaco will be the 2012 inductee to the Oakland Hall of Fame.

The work ethic of baseball’s Branch Rickey reflects the values of Frank Monaco’s commitment to Oakland and Oakland recreation. Monaco has devoted not only his time, his skill, and his labor, but brought with him the values of hard work, fair play, uprightness, strength, courage and civil respect.

Coaching, running the rec stand, serving two separate terms on the Sports Association, being instrumental in the installation of the lights at the rec field, and raising monies for many scholarships awarded to the children of Oakland are just a few of the activities noted in his being chosen.

Monaco’s service to Oakland spans decades, and  his accomplishments will be  fully detailed at the formal induction to take place in the spring of 2012.

Congratulations to Frank.

It was my honor to nominate Mr. Monaco to the Sports Association of Oakland’s Hall of Fame. For too many years his dedication to the youth of Oakland and all the tremendous contributions to Oakland Recreation have been overlooked. Thanks for all of your efforts Frank! Steve Wagoner
