Mayor John Szabo joined the Leaders Are Readers program at the Oakland Public Library on Monday, November 17th. The group of elementary school students thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Mayor read Duck for President by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake by Laura Joffe Numeroff. And the Mayor did a good job of adding in some asides that made the event enjoyable for the parents as well.
If you haven’t been to a Leaders Are Readers event yet, keep your ears open for the next one. It is a great opportunity to give kids another reason to love to read and to meet someone who is a great asset to the Oakland community.
