On the Job – August 14, 2013


mariAs a result of an extensive investigation, on August 8, 2013 Detectives Piercy and Pagerie effected the arrest of a 19 year old Oakland man and a 20 year old Ringwood resident at a Princeton Terrace residence . Charges included the possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, the possession of a controlled dangerous substance; namely marijuana, the possession of drug paraphernalia and the possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute within a school zone. The detectives were assisted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit, and Sgt. Michael O’Neill of the Oakland Police Department. Both arrestees were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and later released.

On August 8, 2013, Ptl. Docwra was dispatched to the Copper Tree Mall to investigate a suspicious person who was reported as attempting to enter several different vehicles that were parked in the lot. The officer located a man seated in the driver’s seat of an idling vehicle in the lot which matched the description of the one given by the complainant. Further investigation revealed that the individual was initially unable to locate his vehicle which he left parked in the parking lot and had subsequently tried opening the doors of several different vehicles that were similar to his before finally locating his own. The officer’s inquiry eventually led to the arrest of the individual for D.W.I. He was given sobriety tests at the scene and refused to submit samples of his breath for chemical testing back at police headquarters. Summonses were issued for driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing to submit to the Alcotest, D.W.I. within a school zone and with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was released into the custody of a friend and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
