On January 26, 2012 officers were dispatched to the Oakland Mini Mart on a reported theft that had just occurred. Upon arrival it was determined, after speaking with the complainant, that a man in his forties entered the store and asked for two cartons of cigarettes. When the clerk placed the items on the counter, the man took them and exited the store without paying. The complainant provided the officers with a description of the suspect along with a license plate number of the vehicle he was driving. A 48 year old Midland Park , NJ man was later charged with shoplifting the items valued at approximately $155.00. He is due to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court in February, 2012. Ptl. On January 29, 2012 a Butler, NJ resident reported that while she was bowling at the Holiday Bowl, her Apple iphone 4 was stolen off of a shelf in the establishment. The phone has an estimated value of $400.00, according to the complainant. Ptl. O’Neill completed the initial investigation.
