On the Job – January 4


marijuanaOn December 24, 2011 Ptl. Bryan Rowin and Ptl. Broek were dispatched to Overlook Ridge Extension to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle.  The officers’ investigation into the four juvenile occupants of the vehicle led to the arrest of one of them for the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The 15 year old Oakland resident was transported to HQ and later released into the custody of a parent.  A Juvenile Delinquency Complaint charging the juvenile with the possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia was prepared by the Juvenile Officer and served upon the suspect. The matter is scheduled to be heard in the Bergen County Superior Court, Family Division later this month.

On December 27, 2011 as a result of a motor vehicle crash on Breakneck Road near Long Hill Road , Ptl. Broek arrested a 21 year old Oakland man and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was transported to HQ and administered the Alcotest after failing to successfully complete standardized roadside tests.  Additional charges included failure to keep right and careless driving.  A January 2012 court date has been scheduled in the Oakland Municipal Court.

On January 1, 2012 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Ptl. Docwra questioned two suspicious juveniles he observed emerging from a storage shed on the property of Dogwood Hill School.  The officer’s inquiry led to the arrest of both juveniles for the possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both juveniles admitted to recently smoking a marijuana cigarette on school grounds after being questioned by the officer.  The 14 and 16 year old juveniles were transported to HQ and later released into the custody of their respective parents. Juvenile complaints are pending.
