On the Job – July 23, 2013


creditcardtheft1As a result of an investigation commencing on July 4, 2013, Det. Pagerie took into custody and charged a 14 year old juvenile with the fraudulent use of a credit card and theft after it was determined that he utilized stolen credit card information to make several online purchases totaling over $900.00. He was ultimately released to his parents and is scheduled to appear in the Bergen County Superior Court, Family Division, to answer to the charges.

On July 11, 2013 as a result of a single-car motor vehicle crash on Seminole Ave near Purdue Ave, Ptl. Kern arrested a 20 year old Oakland resident for driving under the influence of alcohol and other related offenses. Upon his arrival to the scene, the officer was initially unable to locate the driver for the badly damaged and disabled vehicle which appeared to have rolled-over in the crash. Along with the assistance of Ptl. McDermott and Ptl. Gary Fiore, the officers located the driver at a nearby residence. He was arrested and transported to headquarters where he submitted samples of his breath for chemical testing and analysis. He was later released on his own recognizance and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court. Additional charges included DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and leaving the scene of an accident.

On July 14, 2013 Ptl. Rowin arrested a 42 year old Monroe, NY man on Edison Avenue on several outstanding warrants. He was transported to headquarters and released after posting bail in the amount of $7716.00.

On July 16, 2013 an Oswego Ave resident reported being the victim of an identity theft. According to the resident, an unknown individual made purchases in Ohio totaling more than $1000.00 utilizing his Sears Mastercard. In addition to this, an unknown individual attempted to open a credit card in his name but the application was ultimately denied by Discover card. The matter remains under review by the detective bureau. Ptl. Gary Fiore investigated.
