JUNE 29: While on patrol Officer Michael Catenacci initiated a motor vehicle stop on West Oakland Ave that resulted in the arrest of a thirty-three year old male West Milford resident for an active traffic warrant from Clifton, NJ, as well as being a Wanted Person by the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department. The offender was also found to be operating with a suspended New Jersey driver’s license. The offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released into the custody of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department for final disposition.
JUNE 30: An arrest was made of a fifty year old Oakland resident following an investigation of a marijuana grow located on borough property. A private citizen initially located the contraband in a secluded area, notified the Oakland Police Department, and then the Detective Bureau set up electronic surveillance which captured the suspect tending to the plants. The suspect was a known local resident and was taken into custody outside his place of residence. The suspect was charged criminally in connection to the illegal grow and later released on his own recognizances after processing. Lt. Christian Eldridge, Det. Bart Pagerie and Officer Gary Fiore participated in the investigation and arrest.
JULY 2: Officer Edward McDermott was dispatched to the Oakland Motor Vehicle Commission for a fifty-five year old male Hawthorne, NJ resident who was found to have multiple active traffic warrants issued by the municipal courts of Newark and Cliffside Park, NJ totaling $2300. The male party was arrested, processed and later released after bail was posted on his behalf by an acquaintance.
JULY 3: Officer Bryan Rowin located a twenty-seven year old male with multiple active traffic warrants issued out of the Saddle Brook and Totowa Municipal Courts, in the amount of $3000 who was seated in the Oakland Municipal Court. The offender was arrested, processed, and later released on bail that was posted on his behalf by an acquaintance.
JULY 3: Officer Luis Gaviria was dispatched to investigate a male party who walked into the lobby of police headquarters and requested that a taxi be called for him. Upon interviewing the male party, it was determined that he had driven his personal vehicle to headquarters while under the influence of alcohol. The eighty-six year old Oakland resident was arrested, processed, and charged with Driving Under the Influence, as well as Refusal to Submit Breath Samples for the Alcotest. The suspect was later released into the custody of an acquaintance. He is due to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
JULY 4: While on patrol, Acting Sgt. Timothy Keenan located a suspiciously parked vehicle in the upper parking lot of Shop-Rite that was parked across three stalls. Two male parties, ages forty and twenty-one and both residents of Oakland, were located outside of the vehicle. Also observed were multiple handicapped parking signs that were knocked over as well as a display of potted plants. A large portion of the display was smashed and knocked to the ground. While speaking to the male parties it was determined that the forty year old male was the operator of the vehicle and had driven it to Shop-Rite. The twenty-one year male was the individual responsible for the damaged items in the parking lot. Both individuals were arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. The vehicle operator was charged with Driving Under the Influence of alcohol, as well as Refusal to Submit Breath Samples for the Alcotest, and his passenger was charged with Criminal Mischief for the damage done to Shop-Rite’s property. Both parties set to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court to answer the charges against them.
JULY 7: While on patrol, Officer Edward McDermott initiated a motor vehicle stop on I-287 that resulted in the arrest of an Emmaus, PA resident who had multiple active criminal warrants issued from the Wildwood and Seaside Heights Municipal Courts in the amount of $508. The thirty-one year old male offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on his own recognizance.
