On the Job – March 9


driverslicenseOn March 2, 2011 Ptl. Noury and Ptl. Kern were dispatched to the Oakland Motor Vehicle Commission after receiving a report that there was an individual attempting to secure a New Jersey driver’s license by presenting a fraudulent insurance card as a means of identification.  The officers responded and approached the 54 year old Paterson , NJ resident who admitted to the officers that the card was a fake, and that he purchased it for an undisclosed amount of money in Paterson , NJ .  He was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was charged with presenting a fraudulent document to a governmental agency. After processing, he was released on his own recognizance and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

On March 6, 2011 at approximately 12:57 a.m., as a result of a motor vehicle stop for an illegal u-turn on Ramapo Valley Road , Ptl. Tim Keenan arrested a 50 year old Totowa , NJ resident for driving under the influence of alcohol.  The officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver’s breath and instructed him to perform some standardized field sobriety tests.  After failing to successfully complete these tests, Ptl. Keenan placed the man under arrest and transported him to headquarters where he later submitted samples of his breath for chemical testing.  After processing, the man was released into the custody of a friend and given a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.
