On the Job – May 2, 2012


heroinspoonOn April 23, 2012 as a result of an ambulance request at a residence on Grove Street , Officer Rowin charged a 17 year old Franklin Lakes resident with the possession of drug paraphernalia and with being under the influence of suspected heroin.

He was subsequently released into the custody of his mother and is due to appear in the Bergen County Superior Court, Family Division to answer to the charges.  Sgt. Coghlan, Ptl. Frank Fiore and Ptl. Ryan O’Keefe assisted in the investigation.

On April 28, 2012 as a result of a motor vehicle stop for erratic driving on Rt. 202, Sgt. Sanzari arrested a 45 year old Wyckoff , NJ resident for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Additional motor vehicle charges included failure to keep right, reckless driving, DWI in a school zone, refusing to submit to the Alcotest, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving a vehicle with fictitious license plates and driving a vehicle without having installed a court-ordered ignition interlock device.

A criminal charge for operating a motor vehicle while being on the revoked list due to a second or subsequent DWI was also served upon the driver, prior to his release.  At the completion of processing, the driver was given a date in early May, 2012 to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

Specific to heroin, the most recognizable symptom is constricted, or “pinpoint” pupils; other physical signs may include flushed skin and droopy eyelids.  Those under the influence may exhibit a nodding head, slow or slurred speech and a slow gait.
