On the Job – May 6, 2014


policecarAPRIL 28:  A resident from Iroquois Avenue responded to headquarters to report being a victim of credit card fraud after traveling overseas. Officer Joseph Noury handled the initial investigation and the matter then was forwarded to the Oakland Detective Bureau.

APRIL 29:  Officer Edward McDermott arrested a seventy-two year old Oakland resident at the Ramapo Lodge after being found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.  The incident stemmed from an ongoing investigation that originated out of Wayne, NJ.  The offender was charged criminally with Receiving Stolen Property and was later released on his own recognizances with a date to appear in the Oakland Municipal Court.

APRIL 29:  Officer Bryan Rowin investigated a walk in complaint regarding an Oakland resident being the victim of fraud and possibly identity theft.  The resident stated that a Verizon Wireless account was created in her name without her knowledge or consent.  The incident was reported to Verizon who assisted in closing the account before any charges could be incurred.

APRIL 29:  Officer Edward McDermott located a suspicious male walking along I-287.  The twenty-four year old Butler, NJ resident was found to have numerous active arrest warrants out of four different jurisdictions and was taken into custody for processing. The arrestee was later turned over to Haledon PD for transport to the Passaic County Jail.

APRIL 30:  Officer Stephen Broek investigated a complaint of illegal dumping at a local business on Franklin Avenue.  Suspect information was generated and the offending parties were located and advised to remove the debris as soon as possible at the request of the property owner who declined to pursue criminal charges.

MAY 1:      Officer Bryan Rowin observed a twenty-three year old Oakland resident that was known to have an active warrant for his arrest seated as a passenger in a motor vehicle.  A stop of the vehicle was initiated and the offender was taken into custody, processed, and later lodged in the Bergen County Jail after being unsuccessful in securing bail for his release.

MAY 3:      Officer Bryan Rowin located a twenty year old male Oakland resident with multiple active warrants for his arrest on Lakeside Blvd issued out of Clifton and Paramus, NJ.  The arrestee was taken into custody, processed, and later turned over to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department.
