On the Job – November 11, 2012


On October 26, 2012 as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Pawnee Avenue on a vehicle that failed to display a front license plate, Ptl. Keenan arrested the three occupants for various drug-related offenses.  The rear seat passenger, an 18 year old male Oakland resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance after he admitted to taking Roxycodone pills that had not been prescribed to him.  The front seat passenger, another 18 year old male Oakland resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance after he admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day.  The driver of the vehicle, an 18 year old female Franklin Lakes resident, was arrested for being in possession of drug paraphernalia and the possession of a fraudulent New York State driver’s license which displayed a fabricated date of birth.  All three individuals were transported to HQ where they were processed and released on their own recognizance.

On October 28, 2012 Ptl. Harvey responded to the Exxon station on Court House Place on a reported dispute between the attendant and a customer.  Upon his arrival, the attendant pointed out an individual sleeping in his vehicle in the station’s parking lot.  After awakening the driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle.  The driver was tested and determined to be under the influence. He was arrested and transported to HQ where he submitted samples of his breath for chemical testing.  A summons was issued for driving under the influence of alcohol and the suspect was later released into the custody of a family member.


On October 28, 2012
as a result of the investigation into three suspicious juveniles observed exiting a wooded area on Overlook Ridge, it was determined by Ptl. Docwra that the three had recently smoked marijuana and were in possession of drug paraphernalia. The three Oakland residents were released on scene into the custody of their respective parents/guardians. Juvenile delinquency complaints are pending for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and for the possession of drug paraphernalia.

heroinbagsOn October 31, 2012 while traveling on Princeton Terrace in an undercover patrol car, Ptl. O’Neill observed what he believed to be a drug transaction taking place within a motor vehicle parked on the side of the roadway.  His investigation subsequently led to the arrest of a 21 year old Franklin Lakes man and a 20 year old Oakland man for various drug-related offenses.  Eighty-four (84) “stamps” of heroin (approximately 27.3 grams) and three hypodermic syringes were subsequently located in and around the suspect’s vehicle. Both individuals were transported to HQ and charged as follows:  the vehicle’s owner/driver was charged with various offenses including the possession of heroin, the possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, the possession of heroin with the intent to distribute in a school zone, the possession of drug paraphernalia, the possession of a hypodermic syringe and the possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. His bail was set at $150,000.00 and he was subsequently transported to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of posting bail.  The remaining suspect was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and later released on his own recognizance.
