On the Job – November 6th, 2013


On October 26, 2013 as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road near Plaza Rd, Ptl. Keith Docwra arrested a passenger in the vehicle for the possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Upon the officer’s approach to the vehicle, he observed suspected marijuana in plain view on the lap of the passenger, a 45 year old Bayside, NY resident.  A search of the vehicle revealed additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the suspect’s jacket. He was arrested, transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released on his own recognizance.

mariOn October 29, 2013 Ptl. Broek was dispatched to the report of an individual either sleeping, or passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle at the traffic light on Franklin Ave near the intersection of Ramapo Valley Road. As the officer approached the vehicle, he immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the open driver’s side window. The officer awakened the driver, identified as a 20 year old Ringwood, NJ resident, and observed signs of intoxication.  Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted at the scene and the driver was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence.  A search incident to arrest revealed six small baggies of marijuana in the subject’s sweatshirt pocket and additional marijuana in the vehicle. Charges included DWI, the possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, underage DWI, reckless driving, the possession of marijuana, the possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was processed and later released on his own recognizance.

On October 31, 2013 Acting Sergeant Keenan arrested a 29 year old Oakland resident at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission for the possession of a controlled dangerous substance, cocaine, and for the possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released ROR. Ptl. Broek assisted in the investigation.
