On the Job – October 5


On September 26, 2011 a Chuckanutt Drive resident discovered that her AT&T cell phone account had two fraudulent accounts attached to it, along with an outstanding balance in excess of $1000.00.  The accounts were reportedly opened in the resident’s name without her authorization.  Ptl. Frank Fiore investigated.

tennisbraceletOn September 29, 2011 a Skytop Ridge resident reported to Ptl. Gusterson that her diamond tennis bracelet valued at approximately $5000.00 was discovered missing from a box in her dresser drawer.  No signs of forced entry were discovered to the home.  The matter remains under investigation by the detective bureau.

On October 4, 2011 a Hiawatha Blvd. resident
reported that five checks totaling $2234.72 were fraudulently written on his Bank of America checking account.  Ptl. Broek took the initial report and forwarded the information to the detective bureau for further investigation.

On October 4, 2011 Ptl. Keenan and Ptl. Rowin were dispatched to investigate the report of a suspicious vehicle with two occupants parked on Princeton Terrace.  As Ptl. Keenan made contact with the driver, a 23 year old Franklin Lakes resident, he immediately observed signs of obvious intoxication.  Through on-scene questioning and further investigation by the officers, both the driver and the passenger, a 23 year old Oakland resident, were arrested and charged with numerous drug-related offenses.  Several glassine packets containing suspected heroin and a hypodermic needle were discovered during the ensuing arrest.  Charges included DWI, DWI in a school zone, possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.  Both individuals were transported to HQ and later released on their own recognizance.  Sgt. Paul O’Keefe assisted in the investigation.
