SEPTEMBER 29: Sgt. Michael O’Neill responded to the Lakeside Fitness Club for a reported suspicious person inside a parked vehicle. The investigation at the scene resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old Oakland resident for inhaling toxic chemicals from an aerosol can, which is commonly referred to as “huffing”. The offender was taken into custody, processed, and later released on his own recognizances. Motor vehicle summonses were also issued for failing to exhibit documents as well as having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
SEPTEMBER 30: Acting on information provided by another officer who was working a security detail at the local Motor Vehicle Commission office, Ptl. Michael Catenacci was dispatched to the Copper Tree Mall to arrest a 24-year-old Franklin Lakes, NJ resident on an active warrant issued by the Ho-Ho-Kus Municipal Court. After processing, the offender was turned over to the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department when bail could not be posted.
SEPTEMBER 30: While on patrol, Officer Stephen Broek located a suspicious vehicle parked after hours at one of the borough’s grammar schools. Upon further investigation, two juvenile male residents of Oakland were found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both males were transported back to police headquarters and turned over to their parents. Juvenile Delinquency complaints to be issued and served upon the offenders by the department’s Juvenile Detective.
OCTOBER 2: Officer Joseph Noury located a 40-year-old male with an active traffic warrant issued out of the Ringwood Municipal Court. The offender was arrested, processed, and later released on bail.
OCTOBER 2: Det. Edward McDermott investigated two burglaries to vehicles parked at a residence on Rutgers Dr. The complainant reported that coins and an umbrella had been removed from inside the unlocked vehicles.
