On August 31, 2010 Ptl. Gary Fiore was dispatched to the area of Lakeside Blvd. on the report of a red Dodge Durango being operated in an erratic manner. As the officer was in route to the scene, he located a vehicle matching the description of the one given approaching him on Ramapo Valley Road . Ptl. Fiore executed a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle near the intersection of Oak Street . As he was gathering identification from the three occupants, the officer detected the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle’s passenger compartment. Consent to search was granted by the driver, an 18 year old Oakland resident, and a substantial amount of suspected marijuana was located in the area of the backseat. All three passengers were arrested. Charges included possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park. Bail was set at $20,000, no 10% for one of the occupants who he was subsequently transported to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of posting bail. Sgt. Robert O’Keefe and Ptl. Bart Pagerie assisted in the investigation.
