On October 17th, residents have an opportunity to hear and speak to the future of how Bergen County intends to develop the county parks adjoining Oakland.

This meeting will focus on the four management areas of the park. Camp Glenn Grey, Camp Todd and Camp Tamarack all fall with the Fox Brook Zone which is the most southern of the four zones stretching to the NY border.

Issues as where access to the park will be located, the type of recreation such as camping, biking, swimming, hiking; and subjects concerning whether existing structures are razed or reused, and the types of trails that may or may not be created.

Those unable to attend the open house on October 17th can still offer their comments online by using this online form. The deadline for online comments is November 4th.

Previously, a 2010 survey was conducted to gain feedback on what visitors to the park enjoy the most and/or would like to see. Oakland residents made up 21% of the 250 submissions. The number one improvement sought, nearly half the respondents, involved mountain biking trails.  Surprisingly,  there is little mention in the proposed plans detailed in the County Park Management Plan.

On October 17th, residents have an opportunity to:

  • Hear the County Department of Park’s preliminary ideas for the park.
  • Discuss your ideas, concerns and thoughts.
  • Talk with the planning team.
