VFW Selects Oakland, NJ Sergeant as Policeman of The Year
VFW District 2 Commander Steve Vreeland recently announced that Sergeant Keith Sanzari, a member of the Oakland NJ Police Department, has been named as VFW District 2 Policeman of the Year. His name and qualifications will now be forwarded to the VFW Department of NJ for consideration in their competition.
According to Commander Vreeland, “the VFW is very interested in recognizing members of local communities whose work and/ or volunteer efforts add to the safety and quality of life in those communities.” Each year,” he continued, “VFW posts seek the names and qualifications of local policemen, firemen, and ambulance corps members in their service areas to recognize their dedication, hard work, and devotion to duty. We think that Sergeant Sanzari personifies all of those qualities.”
Prior to the District 2 competition, Sergeant Sanzari had been chosen by Franklin Lakes VFW Post 5702 as their Policeman of the Year. “We were very impressed with his record of personal and professional accomplishments,” stated Post 5702 Commander Robert Talan. “We were very pleased to learn that a police officer from our service area was chosen as the District 2 winner, and we wish him the best of luck in the VFW State competition.”
Sergeant Sanzari will receive a certificate noting his accomplishment, and a letter will be sent to the Oakland Police Department noting his award. Additionally, a check will be issued to the Oakland Policeman’s Benevolent Association in his name to support the Oakland PBA’s community efforts.
