Congratulations to Ken Gysbers who will be inducted into the Oakland Sports Hall of Fame at the 2014 Baseball/Softball Parade on June 7th. Jim Folkerts, the chair of the Sports Association of Oakland, will present Ken with the plaque at the ceremony immediately following the parade (@9:30am), The plaque will be hung in the Danny D’Elia building for all to see.
Ken Gysbers was Soccer Commissioner 2005-2009. Prior to that he was Soccer Coordinator. He also coached soccer, basketball, softball and baseball at all levels from 1995 to 2011. Ken still stays involved as he refs for Recreation sports.
In 1988 the Sports Association of Oakland began giving out Hall of Fame awards to honor and recognize individuals for their outstanding contributions of time, knowledge, wisdom and talent to the people of Oakland, to the Recreation Program, to the values and ideals of a greater Oakland. It is the SAO’s privilege and pleasure to bestow this award to Ken Gysbers for all of his contributions. Thank you Ken Gysbers!
