While many in this part of New Jersey might say that Ali Brustofski already “Is”, for the rest of the nation she is “The Next”.
The Oakland native, and Ramapo High School graduate, is on The Next which is a TV show that matches four music industry superstars — Gloria Estefan, John Rich, Nelly, and Wyckoff native Joe Jonas — as mentors to four up-and-coming local musicians.
Ali’s mentor is not Wyckoff native Joe Jonas, although she did perform with a young Nick Jonas as “Brigitta” in her first professional show, “Sound of Music” at the The Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ.
Ali’s mentor on The Next is the incredible Gloria Estefan who has already come to Oakland, and pictures of Ali and Gloria at Junior’s Pizza are posted on Ali’s Facebook Page.
Episodes of The Next move from city to city: Orlando, Baltimore, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. New Jersey residents are already immune to being categorized under NY when it comes to our premier sports teams, so it’s no surprise here that Ali’s hometown of Oakland, NJ is part of the Big Apple picture.
The aspiring stars chosen to be on The Next are not plucked from obscurity; they are proven artists on the brink of success. They just need a little help making the leap from opening act to headliner.
Making it in today’s music industry is more complicated than in generations past – which was hard enough. Today every artist is under the microscope of Twitter, Facebook, and innumberable blogs, websites and news platforms.
Mentors on The Next just don’t give advice on singing or songwriting, they tag along on an everyday schedule whether it involve going to work, going to a party, a nail salon….or Junior’s Pizza.
It’s an overall education on how to manage a career, and yourself….and have the biggest, best blast and career boost in the process.
There’s no reason to be shy if you see Ali or Gloria about town, give them a shout out on the streets, on your Facebook page, or your Twitter account.
