Friends in Oakland, as the Commissioner of the Oakland Braves Youth Football program in our town, I am reaching out to all of you for help and support in spreading this message throughout our great town immediately. Youth football in Oakland from our Flag Program (Kindergarten/1st Grade) through our Tackle Program (2nd-8th grade) has been a beacon of community for all of us for decades. We’ve all been together at the field for practices, games, ceremonies to honor former players and coaches, and annual beefsteak fundraisers and events. The program is designed to provide an environment for our children to safely learn the game, develop socially, make friends, work hard, compete, and have fun. The bonds that many have formed in our Braves program will last a lifetime.
This year, our program is in jeopardy of not being able to have football at the 2nd Grade level, and the 5th/6th grade level due to the number of kids registered to play football. If you are part of the Braves football family we’d ask you to pass this message along to friends of your children and their parents, new Oakland residents and others in town to encourage additional sign ups so that we can continue forward. If not, we run the risk of depriving the kids in our program that continue forward, the opportunity to play in our program and to develop further as children and athletes.

Maybe try lowering the cost to generate additional demand if the team/sport/kids are more important than the money.
therealestatedan, kids are encouraged to try our program, at no cost, and if they enjoy it and continue for the season, the fee can be discussed. The program and the kids experience is far more important than any fees. However we do have practical expenses including the annual upgrade of equipment to keep safety as our number one priority
